A police sniffer dog dies of a rare nose cancer after years of sniffing cocaine on the job.
Max, a springer spaniel, is said to have caught the disease from the effects of cocaine and other drugs he was trained to detect.
The dog’s owner, Police Inspector Anne Higgins, fears all the training may be the reason they had to put the dog down. ”It is ironic the wonderful organ that made him successful in his work has been his demise,” Higgins said.
